Marsyangdi 4 Days

Unfortunately this trip is no longer run commercially due to a dam that flooded half of the river’s raftable section and drained the other half. Although the river below the dam does still run it is sporadic and difficult to time. If your heart is set on this river contact us and we can discuss specific trip details.

This particular dam provides necessary electricity of the city of Kathmandu and surrounding areas. We would like to remind everyone that although dams have their negative impacts on the surrounding communities and environmental ecosystems the benefits outweighed the costs of this project and the impacts to both are not nearly as severe as other alternatives could have been.Bhote Koshi River

Kayaking in Bhote Koshi:
This is the perfect river for the expert kayaker. The rapids are continuous and powerful with great surfing and hole riding. A bombproof roll is a prerequisite.

Itinerary
A Pre-departure meeting is held the evening prior to your departure at our Kathmandu sales office, 6pm.

  • DAY 1: Drive to Bhote Odhar. Raft 3/4hrs on class III, III+ Camp Turture.
  • DAY 2: Drive 2 hours to Khudi -trek to the Put in Point Nagdi. Overnight at camp. Magnificent views of the Himalayas en-route camp.
  • DAY 3: Raft - Nagdi -Khudi. Continuous Class 4- 4+ WW camp.
  • DAY 4: Raft Khudi - Phalayak Sanghu spectacular canyons and class 4 +WW. Drive Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Equipment List:
Kayaking gear : Kayakers bring all of your own boating gear (including floatation bags) and ask for an updated list of available kayaks. Weather should be good and water is relatively warm, but be prepared for the worst. I would recommend both a dry top and a shortie cag. Wet suit shorts are enough for the bottom. Booties/Tevas are always a good idea. Small dry bag to carry daily needs in kayak.

Rafting gear: We will supply you with all specialist river equipment, helmets, lifejackets and paddles. If you have a personal paddle jacket or shortie / farmer John wet suit, please bring them.

Water bottle: Although we carry water on the rafts, it’s always nice to have your own bottle.

  • Sleeping Bag
  • Sleeping pad / Thermorest
  • Rain shell
  • Warm jacket (down jacket-vest for Tamur Expedition)
  • Hat
  • Hiking shoes
  • River shoes/Tevas
  • Sunglasses Extra pair never hurt.
  • Sun block
  • Sun hat or visor
  • Headlight
  • Extra batteries
  • A good book
  • Toiletries
  • Small First Aid Kit

Shammy or small towel: The best alternative to this is a wrap that is cheap and easy to buy once you get over there. They make great pants/skirt also.

Other clothes: Bring polypro and synthetic clothing. For women it is a good idea to have skirts or wraps rather than shorts, especially when we are trekking. Everyone will want to have t-shirts to wear in public places.

Personal First Aid Kit: If you have something you are particularly prone to: ear infections, foot rot, or sinus problems, bring what you need with you. You will definitely want to be carrying medicines for common illnesses like diarrhea, infections and upset stomachs, you will also need a complete set of inoculations for Asia, ask your doctor for advise.

Food: Please bring any of your own food: power bars, granola bars, dried fruit, chocolate, always nice to have. Gatorade Powder is a great way to drown out the taste of iodine in your drinking water.
